The bus driver is an unnamed minor character who appears in Trigun (manga) and Trigun (1998 anime).

Biography

Manga

The bus driver was driving his bus to Juneora Rock, with Vash, Meryl, and Milly among the passengers. He stopped the bus when Vash suddenly shouted out, having spotted someone out in the distance in the desert. The bus driver went to investigate the man, who was hunched over in front of a large cross, which the bus driver remarked "that's one well-prepared dead guy." The man, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, was in fact not dead. He was brought on aboard the bus.

When the bus stopped for a break at a diner, Wolfwood struggled to come up with enough money to pay the bus fare. Wolfwood begged for the driver to cut him a deal, which the driver agreed to let him ride for $$80. As a thank you, Wolfwood placed the portable confessional on the confused bus driver's head and offered him a free confession. The bus driver rejected the offer and walked away.A GATHERING OF DEMONS

1998 anime

The bus driver was driving his bus to May City with passengers who had been picked up from the sand steamer Flourish after the hijacking by Brilliant Dynamites Neon and the Bad Lads. Also aboard the bus was Vash, Meryl, and Milly. He stopped the bus when Vash suddenly shouted out, having spotted someone out in the distance in the desert. The bus driver went to investigate the man, who was hunched over in front of a large cross, which the bus driver remarked "that's one heck of a well-prepared dead guy." The man, Nicholas D.

The bus driver rejected the offer and walked away.

Shortly after, the bus was attacked by strange robots. The panicked passengers fled back to the bus and the driver began speeding away, wondering if it was some sort of lost technology after them and cursing the fact that he changed his route to save Wolfwood and that he should have charged him the full fare. A mother aboard the bus then realized her daughter was missing. Vash and Wolfwood leapt out of the bus as the driver continued driving away.

After the girl was rescued and Vash and Wolfwood returned to the bus, the bus driver completed their route to May City. Upon arriving, he helped get Wolfwood's luggage off the roof of the bus. He, along with two other men, struggled to lift the heavy cross and toss it down to Wolfwood, who caught it with ease. The bus driver noted how heavy the cross was, to which Wolfwood replied "that's because it's so full of mercy." MURDER MACHINE

Character

Appearance

The bus driver's appearance is nearly identical in the manga and anime. He is a short, skinny man with medium-length hair and a thin mustache. He wears large aviator sunglasses that cover his eyes. He wears a t-shirt, jeans, and boots.

In the manga, the bus driver's hair appears lighter in color. He wears no hat or suspenders, his shirt is untucked, and his boots are laced.

In the anime, the bus driver has tan skin and black hair. He wears a yellow trucker hat with a brown brim and black and blue oval symbol on the front. His t-shirt is light green and is tucked in to his blue jeans with a pair of dark blue suspenders. His boots are gray with no laces and have the letters "GT" on the tongues.

Notes

  • Anime production materials for the bus, as seen printed in the fifth Monthly Satellite Times, show the marquee reading "Geneora City" instead of May City. The bus' destination in the manga chapter the episode was adapted from was Geneora Rock, which may explain the used name on the production materials.
