Madhouse (originally spelled as Mad House[1]) is a Japanese animation studio.
History
The studio was founded as Mad House in October 1972 by Masao Maruyama.[2][3][1] The name was changed to Madhouse in 2004.[1]

Notes
- The 1998 Trigun anime was made when the studio's name was spelled "Mad House," while the movie was made after the name was changed to "Madhouse."
- Madhouse also did production and animation production for the Gungrave anime, another series created by Yasuhiro Nightow.[2]
