At 13:33, Kuroneko was flipped into the air after Vash and Stefany dove behind the bar for cover during the mercenary attack. She meowed in surprise and landed on the bar counter, skittering away in a panic amidst the gunfire.
- The edge of the cel is briefly visible in the first frame of Kuroneko's animation in this scene, making it appear as if she is missing the bottom half of her body.
Episode 5
At 06:56, an orange-eared Kuroneko was napping in an old lady's lap when Vash, along with the contents of the laundry lines he was wrapped in, broke through the window of their home. Vash flew through the room and out the opposite window, scattering clothing all over the room and on to the old lady's head in the process. The old lady remarked that "everyone's so busy today!", to which Kuroneko's ears perked up and she woke up to meow in agreement.
- Part of this scene is reused during the flashback section of episode 13.
At 09:18, the orange-eared Kuroneko was sitting and looking out the broken window, when the ground shook from Gofsef Nebraska's footsteps. Her fur puffed up and she meowed in surprise as the shadow of his giant hand appeared on the wall outside.

When she told Wolfwood she was traveling with Meryl and Vash, the man asked her in shock if Vash the Stampede really was there. While he was distracted by talking to Milly, Wolfwood tried to sneakily move his opponent's knight. However, Kuroneko meowed and smacked Wolfwood's hand with her claws.
This caused the man to notice and ask Wolfwood what his hand was doing there. Having been caught, Wolfwood put his hands up nervously with Kuroneko dangling from his left by her claws, as he tried to bluff by calling God's creatures so wonderful and smart.
