Monev the Gale is a Gung-Ho Gun who appears in Trigun (1998 anime) and Trigun (manga).

Biography

1998 anime

Monev is both the first Gung-Ho Gun to be introduced and the first to fight with Vash. He is unexpectedly visited by Legato in the cellar in which he lives and has been training as a fighter for the preceding 20 years. Legato tells him that he will be going after Vash the Stampede, which gives him a thrill.

Monev finds Vash and confronts him in the unnamed town that the episode "Diablo" takes place in. He is disgusted to find that Vash isn't really interested in fighting with him. Monev seemingly spends his time trying to goad Vash into a fighting spirit, but is not successful at this until he ends up killing some of the town's residents in a bid to shoot Vash. This makes Vash livid, and he pins Monev to the ground with a gun to his head as Monev begs for mercy. Vash eventually relents, sparing Monev from death at his hand. However, Monev is later dealt with by someone else, as his corpse appears later on hanging from a wall in Augusta.
