Synopsis
A group of bounty hunters attempts to take out Vash the Stampede as he eats at a diner in the rough town of Valdour. They find Vash to be more crafty than they'd anticipated, and he forces them to leave empty-handed. This isn't the end of Vash's troubles, though; the townspeople, having recently heard about Vash's astronomical bounty, surround him and tell him they'd decided to pursue him themselves.
At Lob's Diner, a little more than 10 iles west, Milly Thompson and Meryl Stryfe ask for directions to Valdour. When Meryl explains that they have business with Vash the Stampede, the barkeep warns them that they should stay away because something big is about to go down in Valdour. They rush out the door to travel there anyway.

Anime
The beginning of the chapter where Vash is ambushed by the bounty hunters in the restaurant as well as the chapter's ending where Monica pulls a gun on him while backed by the people of Inepril City was adapted into episode 5 of the anime, "HARD PUNCHER."
Meryl and Milly's introduction scene in the diner, encounter with the rude patreons, and conversation with the chef was adapted into episode 1 of the anime, "The $$60 Billion Man."
The chapter also shares its name with the first episode of the anime in both Japanese and English, although the English episode title emits the "Double Dollar" text in both the Pioneer and Funimation releases.
Vash's picture on the wanted poster in the opening scene of Badlands Rumble is based on the wanted poster on the first page of this chapter.
