Biography

1998 anime

Badlands Rumble

Character

Appearance

Meryl's outfit sans cloak.

Meryl is a petite woman with violet eyes and black hair that's cut into a longish pixie style. She wears a white thigh-length tunic over black tights, and she wears white ankle-high boots on her feet. Over her outfit, she wears a cape-like cloak that is longer in the back than in the front. Attached to the lining of this cloak are long strips that hold all of her derringer pistols. Finally, on her ears, she wears a pair of earrings consisting of long gold bars.

Personality

Meryl is very "matter-of-fact" and "by-the-book". She is eager to prove herself and has little tolerance for any shenanigans. She starts the series as a hardline professional, but mellows considerably by its end.

Occupation

Meryl is an insurance claims investigator, and is assigned to find Vash and keep an eye on him so that he stops breaking things and generating claims.

Family

Relationships

Milly Thompson

Meryl is initially Milly's superior and/or trainer, but by the end of the series has developed a genuine friendship with her.

Vash the Stampede

Meryl and Vash start out at odds, but end up developing a deep and abiding respect for each other by the end of the series. It is somewhat more obvious that Meryl has developed romantic feelings for Vash, but she cannot bring herself to confess to him before the series ends. Meryl knows nothing about Knives, Legato, or the Gung-Ho-Guns save for what Vash has told her and what little she's seen by following him around.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood

Meryl and Wolfwood are on good terms, but their relationship does not become very personal.
