This first release, consisting of 13 volumes, was released simultaneously on {{Wikipedia|LaserDisc}} and {{Wikipedia|VHS}}. The cover illustrations were done by [[Yasuhiro Nightow]]. Each volume included a 4-page newspaper-styled insert called [[Monthly Satellite Times]], which contained bonus content such as production materials, messages and insight from the staff, interviews with the cast and crew, and illustrations from guest artists. Also included in each volume was a survey card which could be mailed to Victor Company of Japan to redeem points. Those who redeemed all 13 cards' worth of points (a total of 52) would receive a gift in return--a [[Kuroneko-sama]] [[Plushes|plush]] toy--as a thank you for purchasing all 13 volumes.<ref name="CDVIDEO" />

Two limited edition boxes made to hold the LaserDisc versions were released. The box illustrations were done by [[Yasuhiro Nightow]].

This release consisted of 7 volumes.
