This episode's story is adapted from Trigun volume 1, chapters 10-12. It follows the original manga fairly closely but with the following major differences:
- Meryl and Milly wear different jackets during chapter 10 and 11's nighttime scenes.
- There is an old photograph of Badwick's family instead of a child's drawing in the picture frame.
- Morgan's henchmen in both versions are returning characters, although they differ:
- In the manga, they are the hired mercenaries from the Trigun pilot chapter
- In the anime, they are the bounty hunter gang from the beginning of episode 5.
