Characters
In order of appearance:
Manga
This episode's story is adapted from the Trigun chapters "BLOOD AND THUNDER", "DIABLO", and "FRAGILE", with the following notable differences:
- The order of events is changed: In the anime, Legato and Monev's introduction happens after Vash, Meryl, and Milly meet Wolfwood, but before the Little Arcadia arc. In the manga, the Little Arcadia arc precedes the introduction of Legato and Monev, and Wolfwood's introduction occurs after.
- The anime episode begins with the scene of Monev and Legato. In the manga, this occurs after Legato introduces himself to Vash and leaves behind the "gift."
- Blood is seen seeping from the bag containing the shoemaker's head in the manga, which is omitted in the anime.
- The Gung-Ho Guns' halved coins, introduced in the manga chapter "BLOOD AND THUNDER", are not included in the anime.
- In the anime, Vash's flashback while in the jail cell is of encountering Knives in Vasquez's office in July. In the manga, Vash's flashback is about his childhood on the SEEDS ship with Rem and Knives and the ships crashing into the planet. The flashbacks from the chapter "DIABLO" were adapted into episode 17 of the anime.
- In the manga, Vash has flashbacks of the aftermath of the ships crashing and fighting with Knives in the midst of the fight with Monev. This is omitted in the anime, and these flashback scenes in the chapter "FRAGILE" were adapted later in episode 17, episode 20, and episode 26.
- Vash's memory of Rem while he is about to kill Monev is different.
The scene of Vash and Knives in Vasquez's office was later adapted in the Trigun Maximum chapter "LOSS".
