Dominique the Cyclops is a Gung-Ho Gun who appears in Trigun (1998 anime) and Trigun (manga).

Biography

1998 anime

In the 1998 anime, no mention is made of Dominique's past or how she came to join the Gung-Ho Guns. All that's known of her is that she is an assassin in Legato's employ who possesses an interesting gimmick: the Demon's Eye.

Dominique is first introduced in the episode of the same name just after Legato and the Guns kill half of the remaining Roderick Thieves. She assures him that she can "take care" of Vash the Stampede, who arrives shortly thereafter to be greeted by a pile of corpses. Dominique appears then, and he asks if she killed them. She says yes, and is told that no one has the right to take the life of another. Then they begin to fight. Dominique appears to be able to teleport around at will, getting the drop on her target before killing them. However, Vash becomes wise to her tactics and chooses to focus on the pain from a recent injury rather than on her. This allows him to outsmart her "teleportation" tactic: he realizes that she has been hypnotizing him with the eye hidden behind her eyepatch, and this is why it seems like she can teleport. He surprises her by shooting the eyepatch and exposing the eye. Shocked and humiliated, she flees down through some back alleys until she runs into Midvalley. She is not seen again until the middle of "Fifth Moon", when her body is put on display (along with Monev's) by E.G. Mine.

Manga

Dominique's appearance in the manga is much the same, except that instead of a pile of corpses, Vash is greeted with a field of blood. At the end of this version of the fight, Dominique chooses to commit suicide by throwing herself off of a ledge rather than face Legato alive but unsuccessful.

Character

Appearance

Dominique is a tall woman with long, dark purple hair and gray eyes. She wears dark tan pants held up by a belt with a large brass buckle. Tucked into these is a white dress shirt over which she wears an open brown vest - the vest has holes for lacing, but these are not used. Around her neck, she wears a black ribbon as a choker. Over this outfit, she wears a tan duster with large shoulder pads. On her head she wears a gray fedora, and over her right eye she wears a metal eyepatch. She wears gray gloves on her hands and boots with a short heel on her feet. She wears no makeup.

Personality

1998 anime

Dominique is mysterious and alluring - a femme-fatale. She seems to like to tease her quarry before getting down to the business of doing them in - at least, this is how she is with Vash during their fight. She is initially confident in her abilities as an assassin, though her fight with Vash shakes that up.

Manga

Weapons and Abilities

In both the anime and the manga, Dominique makes use of a sleek pistol and, of course, the Demon's Eye.
