Caine appears again in the desert on the outskirts of Tonim Town, where he sets up his long, long rifle and camoflauges himself in an attempt to shoot and kill [[Vash the Stampede (anime)|Vash the Stampede]] from a distance. However, Vash is able to figure out where Caine is by calculating the trajectory of his shots.
