At 10:56, Kuroneko was pulled from [[Nicholas D. Wolfwood (anime)|Wolfwood]]'s bag when he rummaged through in search of something to help the injured man on the bus. She meowed as Wolfwood pulled her out by the scruff of the neck, and then yowled in surprise when she was tossed over his shoulder.

At 11:31, a wide-eyed Kuroneko was sitting on the roof of the building where Vash was staying in May City at nighttime. She meowed, then curiously walked toward the open window where the shouts and commotion from Vash, Wolfwood, Meryl, and Milly's drunken antics could be heard.
At 22:27, Kuroneko was napping on the windowsill of the same building during the day when Vash and Wolfwood were ambushed by the group of children. She didn't open her eyes despite the laughter and screaming, but meowed once.

At 01:56, Kuroneko was sitting in the lap of the man Wolfwood was playing chess against in the caravan's Bob Saloon. She meowed at Wolfwood as he struggled to figure out his next move in the game. Wolfwood called out to Milly when he noticed her in the saloon and she came over to their table to talk with him. When she told Wolfwood she was traveling with Meryl and Vash, the man asked her in shock if Vash the Stampede really was there. While he was distracted by talking to Milly, Wolfwood tried to sneakily move his opponent's knight. However, Kuroneko meowed and slapped Wolfwood's hand. This caused the man to notice and ask Wolfwood what his hand was doing there. Having been caught, Wolfwood put his hands up nervously with Kuroneko dangling from his left by her claws, as he tried to bluff by calling God's creatures wonderful and smart. Kuroneko held on to Wolfwood's hand until he reacted to Milly moving one of his chess pieces.
